Design
The HP LaserJet Pro M15w is designed to be compact, unobtrusive, and even portable. It’s perfect for a home office or a small desk in a corner of the room. The printer is barely larger than a sheet of A4 paper which is also the largest size its single tray will accept.
Instead of an LCD display, there are three well-lit buttons on the side for basic settings like power and WPS setup. Access to most printer functions is available on the smartphone app. Printing is somewhat noisy but the printer is silent in standby mode. The input tray will accept more than 100 sheets of paper but any more than that will collapse the flimsy extending plastic arm of the output tray.
HP LaserJet Pro M15w Features
You won’t find fancy features like duplex printing and a flatbed scanner but what the HP LaserJet Pro M15w does offer is relatively fast (19ppm) printing and economical, sharp laser printing. There’s no LCD display but the excellent smartphone app makes up for it. The app even makes it possible to “scan” to the printer from a smartphone or tablet. Only WiFi and USB connectivity are available and the printer does support WiFi Direct printing. Replacement toner cartridges are available for $50 each. That works out to nearly 5 cents per page which is high. For that reason, the M15w should be considered a light-duty printer. The app allows for WiFi Direct printing and support for Google Docs, Dropbox, and Evernote. There is no Ethernet port. The printer is strictly WiFI. Even if you have no WiFi network at home you can print to this printer from your smartphone using WiFi Direct.
Great For Home Or Small Home Office
The HP LaserJet Pro M15w is a great printer for small businesses and home offices. It prints quickly and smoothly, making it a great choice for printing documents, photos, and even web pages. Additionally, the M15w is backed by HP’s easy-to-use online tools and support system, so you can get the most out of your printer without ever having to leave the comfort of your home or office.
Performance
The HP LaserJet Pro M15w reliably prints at a steady 19ppm pace. Pages pass through the tiny printer so quickly is surprising to see anything printed on the page at all. There are no print quality settings that allow for a trade-off between speed and print quality so certain shades of grey appear a little too light or even pale. This is a result of the lack of sensitivity of its somewhat low 600 x 600 dpi resolution. No, it’s not perfect but it’s still way better than the constant smearing and smudging you can expect from an inkjet.
HP LaserJet Pro M15w Setup
The slick smartphone app makes the M15w one of the easiest printers you’ll ever set up. Simply power on the printer and the app will automatically seek out the printer’s WiFi signal and walk you through connecting to your home network. The only prerequisite, of course, is a smartphone with the HP app installed. The printer’s first startup time is under 10 seconds. You can literally be printing minutes after taking the printer out of the box.

Conclusion
In terms of cost-effectiveness and quality laser printers always beat out inkjets. Inkjet printers are usually bulkier and noisier than their laser counterparts. Smudges, smears, clogging nozzles, and constantly replacing dried-up ink also plague inkjet printing. The theory behind the design of this printer is to offer a laser alternative to inkjet printing at an inkjet price. On that note, HP has succeeded with the HP Laserjet Pro M15w.
