Wyze Cam Pan Design
If Clark Kent was an IP camera he’d be a Wyze Cam. A Wyze Cam is about as humble, plain, and unassuming as you can get. It’s little more than a simple white box with a lens on a round base. Any resemblance to advanced technology is hidden on the base where you’ll find the microSD card slot, reset switch, and USB power port. It’s so unobtrusive it will easily blend in with any decor.

Features
For such a bland, boring 5-inch tall plastic cube the Wyze Cam Pan rocks when it comes to the features that matter. The motorized base provides a full 360-degree pan range and the circular ball-like lens offers 90 degrees of tilt. Among other features, you wouldn’t expect to find in such an affordable camera are free cloud storage, motion, and sound detection, time-lapse recording, a microSD card slot, night vision, and a microphone that provides two-way audio. The camera supports full 1080p at only 15fps so you won’t be making many YouTube videos with it. It does, however, have a nice 8x digital zoom to make up for the lack of frames per second. The lens provides a 120-degree field of view and has six infrared LEDs that provide up to 30 feet of black-and-white night vision. WiFi connectivity is only available on the 2.4GHz band. No big loss since you probably want to prevent a device like this from stealing bandwidth from HD TVs and game consoles that belong on the 5GHz band. 
Let’s not forget that this device was developed by former Amazon employees so yes it does provide Alexa support. On the other hand, you may not have as much luck with some other home automation products.
Setup
As with most IP cameras, the Wyze Cam requires a smartphone, an app download, and an account sign-up. Yes, more passwords to remember. Once the app is installed simply tap the plus icon to add your new device and follow the on-screen instructions. After about 15-20 seconds the LED light will flash yellow. Hold the setup button down for a few seconds and you get a voice prompt that says, “Ready to connect.” You’ll be presented with a list of the WiFi SSIDs in your area. Select yours and enter your credentials. Next, you’ll be asked to scan the QR code using your phone’s camera. When the scan is complete the voice prompt will say, “Setup complete.” You’ll swear you’re living in a cartoon episode of The Jetsons. Once your camera and phone have become acquainted you’ll need to name your camera and run any outstanding firmware updates.
Wyze Cam Pan Performance
The Wyze Cam Pan delivers sharp, colorful 1080p video by day and well-lit black and white video by night. The 15fps is not as smooth as other cameras and there is some minor distortion but that is to be expected with an inexpensive wide-view lens. The compact design and lightweight of the Wyze Cam pan make both pan and tilt motion more responsive than some larger, heavier cams. Two-way audio is loud and clear. 
Motion tracking works nicely as long as the object isn’t moving too quickly. It may miss a cat dashing through the living room but it won’t miss you lumbering around in your pajamas looking for a midnight snack. Don’t get too excited about the CO alarm detection feature though. Maybe some future firmware updates will take care of its ineffectiveness.

Conclusion
Don’t let the “cheap” price of the Wyze Cam Pan fool you. With the exception of the 15fps and slight distortion, this camera does all the same things way more expensive cameras do. As long as you’re not trying to create a Hollywood movie production it’s all here as far as features to look for in a security cam.
