Most WiFi routers have a limited amount of ports. These 4 and 8 port switches are a cheap and easy way to expand your wired network. Switch ports are a good thing. The more wired devices you have the less drag you put on your WiFi network. Switches work best when connected directly to the router. Try to avoid “daisy-chaining” switches together because it can cause unpredictable results.
