The RT-AC5300 also comes with AiProtection, which safeguards your home network against malicious attacks.

Where do we begin? First off the ASUS RT-AC5300 boasts three wireless bands instead of the usual 2 for most wireless routers. – one 2.4GHz band at 1000 Mbps for legacy devices, and 2 5GHz bands at 2167Mbps 802.11ac each for faster devices. That’s like getting a whole additional 2100Mbps router to roam the 5GHz highway on. The 3rd band is a perfect place to run your 4K videos on.
The eight large antennas work with MU-MIMO technology to broadcast and receive your 3 networks around your home. They can be adjusted to help boost network coverage.
The RT-AC5300 comes with a powerful 1.4GHz dual-core processor from Broadcom and 512MB of RAM. The QoS is adaptive which is a big plus for gamers who want to prioritize their gaming and media sessions. Another interesting feature of this router is link aggregation, which combines multiple network connections to increase throughput. This works especially nicely if you have a NAS device with 2 ethernet ports.

Measuring 2.6×9.6×9.6 (HWD), the router takes up a good amount of desk space, but it’s worth it if you want faster gaming speeds. Its sleek matte black exterior is pretty fancy, with its eight removable and adjustable antennas. At the front, you’ll notice the LED button for which power band connectivity you’re using (either 2.4GHz or 5GHz), WAN, and Internet activity. There is a USB 2.0 port to the left side and buttons and more buttons for the Wi-Fi bands and using the WPS security feature. The back has LAN ports, a WAN port, a USB 3.0 port, and a power button.

You also love the basic and advanced management settings thanks to its web-based ASUSWRT management system that lists all the settings you can customize. And gamers will benefit from the Game Boost feature and one-click adaptive QoS that automatically assigns gaming apps network priority. You also get a free subscription to WTFast, which is an online game acceleration service that will automatically route game data for optimal bandwidth. For those without a lot of technical background, the Setup Wizard makes it much easier to set up than you’d expect for a router with this many features.
